Freedom of Information: Publication Scheme
All public authorities, including schools, are required under the Freedom of Information Act to adopt a publication scheme that has been approved by the Information Commissioner and to publish information covered by the scheme.
There is a model publication scheme which has been approved by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) which schools must adopt and publish.
Guide to Information
Schools must publish a guide to information alongside the publication scheme which specifies:
- the information we publish,
- how it is available, and
- a schedule of fees.
Under data protection law, individuals have a right to be informed about how the school uses personal data that we hold about them. We comply with this right by providing a Privacy Notice (sometimes called a fair processing notice) which explains how we collect, store and use personal data.
