Safeguarding at Robert Sandilands Primary School
Robert Sandilands takes its responsibility to protect and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in its care seriously. If you have any concerns, need help, or wish to discuss anything, please speak to:
Libby Bucknell - Designated Safeguarding Lead (Headteacher)
Natasha Russell - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Pastoral Manager)
Katie Pullen - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Teacher Year 2)
Ali Blake - Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Senco)
At Robert Sandilands Primary School, we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We have a strong safeguarding culture and robust procedures in place. All our staff are trained annually and we follow this up throughout the year with further updates as necessary.
Parents and carers are welcome to read our policy, which is accessible under policies on our wesbite (a hard copy is available on request).
Sometimes, when there are concerns about a child's welfare, we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.
If you are concerned...
If you are concerned about a child's welfare, you can:
- contact the school office on 01635 40318 and ask to speak immediately to a DSL
- call West Berkshire Children's Services on 01635 503190
- email the school's safeguarding team via this address - safeguarding@sandilands.w-berks.sch.uk
- talk to the adult on the gate in the morning
- or contact the police
If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff, please ask to speak to a DSL in confidence. They will refer the matter to the Headteacher (or the chair of governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) and our procedures will be followed.
